As part of the Choice Neighborhoods initiative, the City of Lewiston, Maine seeks to commission a mural to activate a retaining wall on the lot at 192 Bartlett Street. The mural will be a collaboration between an artist and a local nonprofit organization's summer youth program. The artist will provide artistic vision and oversight and will engage with participating youth on both the concept and implementation of the mural. Organization staff will ensure supervision of participating youth. The mural will elevate neighborhood-identified themes and cultures as outlined below. Work undertaken and overseen by a local artist or artist team is the focus of this call for proposals. Artists who live and/or work in Lewiston or Androscoggin County are encouraged to apply.
