Starting in September 2022, the Lewiston Youth Advisory Council (LYAC) felt that it was imperative to do some outreach on mental health awareness. Many of the members have observed peers and community members in need of compassion, empathy, a listening ear, and knowledge of helpful resources. Wanting to spread the message that people are "not alone," the group is undertaking various outreach efforts.

The youth council put together a lengthy list of positive affirmations that Superintendent of School Jake Langlais agreed to "tweet" every morning.  An example is below.

LYAC has named their outreach (Be Kind To Your Mind), put together the below resource flyers, and developed a QR Code for school/community flyer distribution, and the QR Code is being placed at various spots at Lewiston High School.
